There's no denying that Chrono Trigger was made by some of the most skilled game designers of the era, bringing new ideas and fresh perspective to the world of RPGs.  With beautiful sprites and environments, paired with an ingenius score and plot, it became an instant classic. It's been named one of the all-time best games, with a longtime cult following.

However, it had some loose ends to tie, which is where Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger DS come in—and Although they did extend upon the story of the original game, the only real thing the sequels did was create more problems.

Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes, a fan project made by ROM hacking the original game, sought out answers to the many questions that should never have been so needlessly cryptic. Based on much of the canon, the game masterfully provided solutions to the most puzzling, and frankly convoluted, issues with the game's jarring plot holes. So much so that much of Chrono Cross' various relations to the first game became much less farfetched—and far more engaging. You could play all three and truly feel as though the stories fit together, never questioning if the game's creators were the same.

So, with that said, my personal favorite fan project happens to Be Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes. What are some of your favorite fan projects, whether that be comics, fanfic, artwork, etc.?

I thought they got a cease and desist from Square Enix

As someone who tried Chrono Cross once and hated it with passion (thanks for butchering Chrono Trigger's whole story and universe), is this a good play for me?

Pretty fond of Zelda: Outlands, especially dat second quest.

I don't really play alot of these though, and it's dissapointing most of the MM ones are based off 2, as well as use ill fitting looking objects like Kirby spikes much of the time. Rockman 4MI was good but the inclusion of auto scrolling sections = no replay.

Yes it did get a cease and desist... and yes. I totally recommend it, if you can get a hold of the leaked copies.

@Knight Pattern
