Didn't see a topic about it so I derided to make one!
What kind of items do you guys/gals want to see in the game? Do you think they should be more static like BoI or maybe randomized like Diablo style games?

Personally I'd rather they be static to allow easier balancing. It will also make things much more exciting to see an item you like drop and knowing that it will be a good run.

Don't get me started on the balance of BoI. (Unless you want me to type a huge rambling wall of text to explain it in detail.)

I'd love to see a pseudo-rng drops. In case you don't know I'll explain: (numbers are just examples)

You have a 50% chance for a weapon to drop whenever you open a chest.
If you open the first chest you either:
  • find a weapon and the chance stays 50%
  • find get a weapon and the chance rises to 60%
If you open the first chest you either:
  • find a weapon and the chance rests back to 50%
  • find get a weapon and the chance rises to 70%

This way you can avoid too powerful luck-streaks, still have some fluctuation and you can ensure a certain level of fairnes.

Some statically placed special weapons are always a nice addition. Stuff like a hard to open up armory for example.

That's quite a interesting concept and I do quite like it. Is there any games that use this kind of drop system?

No idea. Pseudo rngs are quite common in a variety of games, as true regression to the mean is not suited for non-gambling games.

I'd love to see a large variety of items mostly at random and also some possible epic weapons that one must explore to find!

What if you found a huge cannon the delver could hardly carry that did massive explosive damage. Problem being the kickback would be so horrendous you would most certainly either fly into a pit or splat against a wall or some spikes.

Hey.. with great power comes great sacrifice...    I like the idea of having a over sized weapon that did incredible damage but made you really vulnerable. Think of the Battering Ram at the end of Bastion.   you would essentially be a glass cannon.  Incredibly destructive but horribly protected.

I'd use it even if it were just for laughs. I imagine that it'll be RNG which isn't a huge problem for me. I really like the idea of non-class weapons breaking after use. That's an interesting mechanic to say the least and can't wait to see how it all works. Certainly want to see some neat weapons, the Dev's talking about spear attacks having wider or smaller hit boxes depending on the weapon was a breath of fresh air for me.

I think one of the things that I would really like to see with items, is some sort of upgrade system that you can earn through purchases.  I know that there is currency in-game as killing enemies, smashing crates (and other breakables), and opening chests yields all kinds of loots including a variety of "rupee" looking items which count towards your "G" (assuming it means gold).

I would like to add flame to my blade or special attacks that would freeze or poison by shooting an arrow.  One thing we haven't discussed are types of weapons external to what has already been revealed.

We already know about:

Guitar/Lute
Spears
Whips
Bows (which is also a drop item that other characters can pick up in Endless Drop)
Dual Blades
Staves
Bombs
Wand (shoots fireball)
Sword
Bombs

I would like the think that there will be some sort of hammer and maybe some sort of orb/book that can cast spells.  I would really love a boomerang because I think that it could have some serious advantages in this game due to the physics based gaming style.

Fairly certain that they mentioned that the Gladiator had a massive Hammer that did slow AoE attacks.

You are correct!  On the main Delver's Drop website it says the Battle Hammer is the Gladiator's favored weapon!  The flavor text reads: "Nothing beats a massive weight attached to the end of a sturdy grip, though it has a considerable wind-up because of its bulk."
