Linux?
« on: November 05, 2015, 07:58:42 AM »
So are we ever getting a Linux alpha/beta version?  Looking at my Humble store it's been over a year for the latest Windows and Mac builds, but Linux, we get nothing still.

The last update about the Linux version I see is from Mar 2015, and it's just that we'll have to wait longer.  Is this going to be another hollow promise from another developer kind of like BFG with Gianna Sisters or Larian with Divinity Original Sin, just to name a few?

If the Linux version isn't coming, fine, then just tell us.  So I can know that my money is gone and I'll stop waiting for the game.

Sorry if this comes off flamey, but I've been burned quite a bit lately as a Linux gamer.  And before anyone responds with "You're on Linux, you should be happy you're getting any games" or "No one cares about Linux" or "I'd rather the devs focus on real OSes".  Just don't.

The game is still planned for Linux but after Mac and PC, the game is still being developed as well.

Hi taea00.

No worries, you've got every right to ask any question you want :)

The Linux version will absolutely still happen. In terms of where it is at -- yes, only some work has gone into it thus far (basic project structure, a handful of engine classes) so there is still a lot of engine porting involved, but from the very beginning of development we've tried to set things up to be as fluently cross platform as possible.

As you can imagine, things haven't gone super smoothly over the last year in general, and Linux has always been the "3rd" platform so to speak, but we have done some work, are still actively making decisions to facilitate it, and are still committed to it.

Let me know if you would like any more specifics or have any other questions, etc. Thanks!
