Use a gamepad key mapper (I'd suggest Xpadder) until controler support is implemented.

Right now we just support XInput so any XInput compatible controller will work but all others will have to use an emulation/mapping program as Doomspeaker mentioned.


The plan is to support as many controllers as possible, but I'm still looking into the best way to support controllers cross platform and it may very well be the case that we add in new controller support over time versus all in one go.

Fair enough. Thanks for the responses, it shouldn't be an issue regardless of having to use a keymapper or just sticking to keyboard controls. I've actually gotten a lot better at using the keyboard over the past couple days. :P

The current plan is ASAP, but yes, next week.

I mis-read the post, didn't realize it was missed for the entire weekend, my fault. But hey, what can you do? If you guys need to fix a couple things to make sure we can give you valid feedback, by all means do it. You guys want the valid feedback just as much as we want a working (not necessarily completely bug-free) alpha. Can't wait to see what it's like!

My question still remains though, will there be USB controller support with the 0.30 build? Or will I have to stick to the keyboard? I'm fine with either, I've just always played better with a controller. Not a priority right now, I'm just wondering.

Wired Xbox controller works...

is the alpha out for download yet?

Ah, thanks for that. I was confused by the fact that the current build is a "pre-alpha", I guess.

I don't know if this should be posted to the bug board, but is there any sort of a debug screen so we can identify particular rooms that have issues, or copy paste any revelant information into the bug board topics?  With the randomization it would be helpful for reporting and fixing any issues if we can accurately tell you it's room type X, variant Y or however your engine names a given room.

The plan is to have the Pause menu show some diagnostic information (Seed, Current Room, Current Layer(s)) but I haven't got this in yet. It is a good candidate for a first patch :)
