[Multiplayer]The capability is there?
« on: June 18, 2014, 08:55:46 PM »
Ok so quick post fellas, after looking through the memory for like hours today and last night, I have noticed a few things. The access is here to make a janky multiplayer. There is the capability to spawn npcs, create npcs, create weapons on the fly anything like that by writing some fresh allocated memory. Since we can also modify sprites and textures of things on the fly for enemies(courtesy of animations) we could theoretically make an external packet client that attaches to the game, grab your current players X Y and their direction, animation times, current frames all that and send it to another instance of said external packet client. Make a new NPC with that direction, animation frame and time, with the same sprite data as the local player who sent them, and emulate multiplayer...right now in pax east ++ the map never changes so im certain it would be fairly easy to get this done actually, though when random dungeon generation comes out we would have to host some sort of map data somewhere for the current dungeon, but thats down the road. Anyway with this dream in sight I am going to set out to make it happen. If anybody who frequents these forums knows how to program at least moderately make a post here. I could always use a helping hand with a project this big
