Okay, new term to weigh in on:
We have a material that is basically "elemental coal" - it is black and coal-like but might glow slightly from its core. It can burn with *any* element if ignited. So you could have a subdue (ice) flame burning this material. You should also know that it could be considered to be a stable form of Murk - since murk is a primordial soup of all possible types of matter (and energy), this coal is a refined and stable version of murk, manufactured on a forge world by the gods (think a planetary elemental volcano rising from the murk). They formed this volcanic core to manufacture this coal to use as building blocks for worlds and beings - it could be further refined into other materials, or used as fuel for elemental energy. Gems are probably refined versions of this material, such that they contain only one type of elemental energy - so a Ruby would be a fury gem.
The word for the companions / familiars that you can summon (in companion mode) need to be related to the word for the above. The companions are magical beings (kind of like Pokemon, Harry Potter Patronuses, or Skylanders). They are formed out of elemental components - so any given companion monster might be made of 2 parts fury, 3 parts force, and 1 part foundation. If destroyed, they break into these components in gem-like fragments representing slightly refined versions of the above "elemental coal" - so for instance they would break into 2 fury-coal-gems and 3 force-coal-gems, etc.
The name for the companion monsters needs to be short and catchy.
Anyway, here were some ideas we had for the names:
MATERIAL --- COMPANIONS
Plasmacite --- Plasminions, (root is plasma)
Prymite --- Pryminions, (root is Pryme = prime)
Prysmite --- Prysminions, (root is Prysm = prism)
Aethrite --- Aethralls, (root is Aether)
Magicite (already used by a bunch of games)
Elementhralls for the monsters, can't come up with a good name for the material unless we did Elementite, which is kind of long.
Leaning toward Prymite and Pryminions
