Ryan's Random Art Things
« on: March 31, 2014, 11:47:35 PM »
I'm working on a concept art scene with all the characters (look forward to the stream on Wednesday!), and remembered this image that I drew way way back in college, in 2002. Surprisingly, it is weirdly approaching the quality of the stuff I'm doing now on Delver's in terms of drawing - but color was then a foreign territory, and I never finished the colors on this one. Bonus: I was at the time only a fledgling learning Photoshop! :) Just shows how having all the time in the world to draw during high school can really get you ahead, and your progress only slows the more responsibilities you have, despite the additional experience.

It looks great!! There's a bit of Final Fantasy in there for sure.

The black assassin-like girl with here eyes covered and the thief (which looks oddly similar to the thief in the n64 zeldas)that rather goes for treasure than posing for the picture. Definitely FF touch in there. It's like a FF+ddrop mashup.

Photoshop during 2002 lol. When they still used numbers without the CS tacked on.  :D

And you made -slight- progress with color. Ddrop still is very monochrome and dull colored, but you'll get there some time for sure!  ;)

I love the dwarf. It seems like you've had an affinity for helmets with a horn or two worn down or broken off for a long time, considering the Gladiator's design. Gotta love battle-damaged gear. :P

Lets face it though, things are just cool with horns. Godzilla had horns, Vikings in fantasy things have horns. Theres only one uncool thing that has a horn and thats a unicorn. We all know its a myth though haha.

Well Baker's up to redeem Unicorns in Ddrop.

(Now we know why the gladiator's helmet has one broken horn. Two would have been too badass to handle.)
