I think the thing that bothered me most was how that one comment just shows a really poor grasp of the Japanese game industry (the variety is there, you just might have to look harder... just like the western game industry). Nevermind the fact that FEZ concept was actually done by a Japanese indie game dev prior, I'd link the video if I could remember the name. Still going to purchase FEZ regardless, but I'll probably just hold out till a sale.

Hatehatehate defense battles where you can't allow any enemies to cross the line, XF certainly took a step up in difficulity in what is probably the final battle of the chapter (not that I don't welcome challenge, it's just the herfing Geomancers and their giant move range that's getting really bothersome to deal with).

I actually heard that a lot of people couldn't run FEZ because of incompatibilities or something to that effect, I know because my friend got it and it won't run for his computer at all, then he checked Steam's forums and a hell of a lot of people were complaining about the same issue. This was Fish' take on the issue from twitter:

"taking into account every possible computer configuration out there is a nightmare. some computers will never run the game. it's... shitty."

Which sucks for people who spent 10 bucks on a game they can never run. Then, a couple of hours later he posted this like nothing happened and there isn't a huge issue with part of the community being unable to play his game at all:

"oh my god i am eating THE best fried chicken EVER in NOLA. holy shiiiiiit."

I just thought that last bit was funny, no other real reason to post it. XD

I followed Fez's development back at the very start of the project, and then kinda dropped it when the news stopped flowing and the release date kept slipping back.  Then the game came out, got some critical acclaim, and I never picked it up.  I played the demo on Xbox and it was interesting, but not phenomenal.  Worth the money, sure, but not what I was looking for at the time.

And then I started to hear about the developer.  Having read his original posts and watched his proof of concept videos with avid interest, this was jarring.  I'm glad he had some level of success but I felt like he became a lesser person than what I saw at first.

And now I see the game is on steam and I'm just kinda... meh.  It isn't that his behavior ruined the game, but I just don't feel the need.  Perhaps I saw it too soon and passed on due to other reasons, but either way I might only pick it up as part of some bundle or sale.

"taking into account every possible computer configuration out there is a nightmare. some computers will never run the game. it's... shitty."

Tommy Refenes (the coder) from Team Meat got hit hard by this.

When Super Meatboy got its PC release, it turned out that quite a few people had problems with the game. Team Meat also kind of promised a leveleditor. People would flood Tommy with hatemails etc, because they didn't realize that fixing and (in case of the editor) takes some time.

At one point he went out and posted some angry reply like "can't fecking fix every problem there is!". Caused a bunch of people to hate him and gave him a repuptation as grumpy guy, which is a shame since he is kind of a decent guy. Team Meat fixed lots of stuff and delivered an Editor.

Difference between SMB and FEZ? Both devs complained about instability on PC. One tried to fix them, one said "deal with it".
Now guess which side will have more customers in the future.

Games I'm Currently Playing:

Diablo 3 - On the side, but had some friends talk me into picking it back up after not playing since launch.

10,000,000 - A nice little tile matching game that has RPG elements. You gain gold, exp, and building materials that you can then use to train skills and upgrade your weapons and defenses. Worth a look.

BIT. TRIP RUNNER - Stuck on one level, but I'm not giving up!

Torchlight 1 - Trying to beat on Very Hard Hardcore

Started playing Neverwinter over the weekend.  I like what I am seeing so far.  Amazing graphics for a MMO.

Other than Finals at school, I've been playing 13th Age with some friends. It's a D&D style pen and paper RPG.

Haven't touched any video games in a while actually. I picked up Demon's Souls but have not gotten around to snagging my PS3 back yet.

Quote from: Everyone is John
Everyone is John is a humorous, competitive roleplaying game about playing the various personalities of John, an insane man from Minneapolis. One participant is the GM, or, in Everyone is John lingo, "Everyone Else." All of the other players are Voices in John's head.
Oh dear wow that's an intro.

I'm in the process of modernizing my rig, so I might actually play some relatively new, graphically intensive game one day. (Or not)

Alright. The modernizing process is getting somewhere. I can run Kerbal Space Program without tearing my hair out, so I'll probably start to study that one a bit more. Also Dwarf Fortress runs so much smoother it's not even funny. Maybe I'll buy a graphics card later if there's some game that needs one.

Started playing Neverwinter over the weekend, but for some reason have not gone back.  Then out the blue, I saw that someone on Steam was playing Skyrim, so I picked that right up and gave it a play last night.
